Le Bandit Review
Le Bandit is Hacksaw Gaming’s 6×5 cluster slot about Smokey Le Bandit, a crowbar-carrying raccoon who’ll fleece you if he can. We played it for real money and checked every figure on this page against the in-game rules and Hacksaw Gaming’s game page on October 29, 2026.
The headline act is a coin feature: winning spots turn into Golden Squares, and a Rainbow symbol cashes them in for coins worth up to 500x your bet. Three bonus rounds sit on top of that, the max win is 10,000x, and the buy menu runs from 3x to 250x your bet.
OPINION: A cartoon heist with real style
Le Bandit is a very cool slot. It’s medium volatility, and the bets go from 10 cents to $50 a spin, which is a big range. The buy menu has four options, and what you pay for each one depends on your bet, so check the prices before you press anything.
Le Bandit’s symbols and payouts
Le Bandit plays on a grid of 6 reels and 5 rows. You need 5 or more matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically to win, and the bigger the cluster, the bigger the payout.

Game symbols
The low-paying symbols are the card royals 10, J, Q, K and A. The premium set is street loot: a steel bear trap, cheese, a mug of beer, a bag of baguettes and, at the top, a black top hat.
The special symbols are:
- Wild: A “Wild Reward” poster that substitutes for every symbol in the paytable
- Rainbow: Activates every Golden Square on the grid once the wins are paid
- FS scatter: A camera symbol, where 3, 4 or 5 trigger the three bonus games
- Coins, Four-Leaf Clovers and Pots of Gold: They only appear when a Golden Square is activated
Number of paylines
There are no paylines. Le Bandit uses cluster wins, so a group of 5 or more connected symbols pays wherever it lands on the grid.
Payouts
| Symbol | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9-10 | 11-12 | 13+ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Top hat | 1x | 1.5x | 2x | 3x | 10x | 30x | 100x |
| Beer, baguettes | 0.5x | 0.7x | 1x | 1.5x | 5x | 15x | 50x |
| Bear trap, cheese | 0.3x | 0.4x | 0.5x | 0.7x | 2.5x | 7.5x | 25x |
| 10, J, Q, K, A | 0.1x | 0.2x | 0.3x | 0.5x | 1.5x | 5x | 15x |
Disclaimer
The payouts and multipliers in this review are based on the lowest bet of $0.10. The in-game paytable shows dollar amounts for your current stake, so the amounts grow as you raise your bet, while the multipliers stay the same.
A small cluster of royals returns a tenth of your bet, so the base game lives off the jump from 8 to 9 symbols, where every payout roughly triples. The real money, however, sits in the coins.
Min/max bet
Le Bandit takes bets from $0.10 to $50 per spin. The rules state that feature buys can exceed that limit, so the most expensive buy at the max bet costs $12,500.
Maximum win
The max win is 10,000x your bet, or $500,000 at the $50 max bet. According to the rules, it can be reached in the base game and in all three bonus games. Once it hits, the round ends, you’re paid, and any remaining free spins or features are discarded.
RTP and volatility
Hacksaw Gaming lists four RTP versions for Le Bandit: 96.34%, 94.23%, 92.17% and 88.36%. The casino picks which one you get, and the one where we played runs the 94.23% version, which the info screen confirms, and the buy options sit between 94.15% and 94.38%.

Volatility is rated 3 out of 5 on the intro screen, so it’s a medium volatility slot. Expect a steady trickle of small wins, with the big moments saved for the coin features.
What happened when we played for real money
We played Le Bandit for real money on Super Turbo, the fastest spin mode in the menu, with stakes from the $0.10 minimum up to $1 per spin. A bigger stake makes each win bigger, but it doesn’t change the odds of landing one. The first three spins were blank. Spins four and five both paid small wins, and then the grid went quiet again for six spins before another small win landed on the seventh.
That pattern held for the rest of the session. Around 30 spins in, we had a couple of very small wins to show for it, and by roughly 50 spins the wins were still small and the bonus hadn’t landed. Wins came fairly regularly, but dry spells of four or five spins with nothing were normal.
OPINION: Get used to the dry spells
Don’t expect a lot of wins here, or big ones, or to trigger the important stuff in a short session. The wins are kind of regular, but there will be dry spells of four or five spins without hitting anything, so get used to it.
Le Bandit’s slot special features
We saw the cascades and regular cluster wins in play. The Golden Squares, coins and bonus games below are based on the game rules, since they didn’t trigger during our session.
Super Cascade
Every win removes the winning symbols, and also every other symbol of the same type on the grid. New symbols drop into the gaps, and the cascade keeps going as long as new wins form.
Win to Win and Golden Squares
Each winning position leaves a Golden Square behind. If a Rainbow lands on the same spin, every Golden Square activates after the wins are paid and reveals one of these:
- Bronze Coin: 0.2x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3x or 4x your bet
- Silver Coin: 5x, 10x, 15x or 20x
- Gold Coin: 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x or 500x
- Four-Leaf Clover: Multiplies the coins and Pots of Gold on adjacent squares by x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10
- Pot of Gold: Collects the value of every coin and every other Pot of Gold on the grid
Pots of Gold activate top to bottom, left to right. After the last one collects, the remaining Golden Squares activate again to reveal new symbols, and the process repeats until no new Pot of Gold appears. In short, one Rainbow can chain several rounds of coin reveals.
Bonus games
| Bonus | Trigger | Free spins | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Luck of the Bandit | 3 FS scatters | 8 | Golden Squares stay highlighted between spins until a Rainbow activates them |
| All That Glitters Is Gold | 4 FS scatters | 12 | Golden Squares stay highlighted for the whole bonus, even after a Rainbow |
| Treasure at the End of the Rainbow | 5 FS scatters | 12 | Squares stay lit, a Rainbow lands on every spin and Bronze Coins are removed |
In Luck of the Bandit and All That Glitters Is Gold, 2 FS symbols add 2 free spins and 3 FS add 4. Landing 4 FS during Luck of the Bandit upgrades you to All That Glitters Is Gold with 4 extra spins. Treasure at the End of the Rainbow is the top bonus, and you can only reach it by landing 5 FS scatters.
Bonus buy
Le Bandit’s buy menu has four options, two FeatureSpins modes and two direct bonus buys. Prices scale with your bet.
| Option | What you get | Cost | Cost at $0.10 | RTP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BonusHunt FeatureSpins | Each spin is 5x more likely to trigger a bonus (high volatility) | 3x per spin | $0.30 | 94.38% |
| Rainbow FeatureSpins | A Rainbow lands on every spin | 50x per spin | $5 | 94.38% |
| Luck of the Bandit | Bonus with 8 free spins | 100x | $10 | 94.15% |
| All That Glitters Is Gold | Bonus with 12 free spins | 250x | $25 | 94.24% |

The catch is in the FeatureSpins. Both modes stay on until you press Disable, and every spin is charged at the higher rate until you do. Rainbow FeatureSpins at 50x per spin costs $250 a spin at the $50 max bet.
The direct buys are easier to price. All That Glitters Is Gold costs 2.5 times as much as Luck of the Bandit but gives you 12 spins instead of 8, plus Golden Squares that never reset. The max win is 40 times the price of the top buy (10,000x against 250x). You’ll find more games that let you skip the wait on our bonus buy slots page.
Le Bandit’s graphics and sound
Le Bandit is a hand-drawn cartoon set in a sepia Paris back street, with an old car, crates and cobblestones behind the grid. Smokey stands to the right of the reels in a flat cap and moustache, crowbar in hand, and the intro screen greets you with “C’est incroyable!” and “Oh la la!” in the feature descriptions.
| Feature | Le Bandit |
|---|---|
| Graphics | Hand-drawn cartoon, sepia Paris street |
| Optimized for mobile | Yes, played in portrait mode |
| Music | Soundtrack and sound effects, with separate on/off toggles in the menu |
| Special features | Super Cascade, Golden Squares, coins, clovers, Pots of Gold, 3 bonus games |
OPINION: A mobster raccoon with a cartoon finish
I love the visuals. The theme is awesome and a bit spooky, and Smokey has that 1930s or 1940s criminal look, a bit of Al Capone and The Godfather, only it’s all cartoonish. I always use the Super Turbo spins, and they suit the game.
Le Bandit’s mobile experience
We played Le Bandit on a phone in portrait mode. The game fits the screen without any zooming or scrolling, and the features and menus are the same as on desktop. However, the grid is smaller than in Wicked Grin, Hacksaw’s other portrait-friendly release, and Smokey disappears from the screen in portrait. That’s the biggest difference from the desktop version, since his animations add a lot to the game.

The casino’s mobile site adds a search button at the bottom of the screen, so you can jump straight to another game, plus quick links to the desktop version and your account. Opening another game closes the current session, so you can’t keep two games running side by side. That’s down to the casino, not the game.
OPINION: Missing Smokey on mobile
It’s cool that you can open another game from whichever one you’re playing with the search button below. However, on mobile the grid is even smaller than in Wicked Grin, and you can’t see Smokey on the screen, so that’s too bad. Smokey and his animations make a lot of difference in the gameplay.
Le Bandit vs Le Prechaun
Le Prechaun is another 6×5 slot from Hacksaw’s Le series that we’ve reviewed, so the two make a natural pair.
| Le Bandit | Le Prechaun | |
|---|---|---|
| Grid | 6×5, cluster wins | 6×5 |
| Max win | 10,000x | 15,000x |
| Top RTP version | 96.34% | 96.28% |
| RTP where we played | 94.23% | 94.29% |
| Volatility | Medium (3/5) | Medium |
| Bet range | $0.10 to $50 | $0.05 to $50 |
Pick Le Bandit if you want the coin-and-rainbow formula with three bonus tiers. Pick Le Prechaun if you want the higher max win and a cheaper minimum stake.
Le Bandit’s pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Golden Squares can chain several rounds of coin reveals | The version we played pays 94.23%, not the 96.34% top version |
| Gold Coins worth up to 500x, plus x10 clovers | FeatureSpins keep charging until you press Disable |
| Three bonus tiers, with an upgrade from 3 FS to 4 FS | Rainbow FeatureSpins cost 50x your bet per spin |
| Max win reachable in the base game and all three bonuses | The top bonus can’t be bought |
| Wide $0.10 to $50 bet range | Small base game wins and frequent dry spells |

Solutions if you have issues with Le Bandit
- Relaunch the game after a disconnection. An interrupted round resumes as soon as you start Le Bandit again. If the round needs no input from you, the winnings are credited automatically after one day.
- Check History for a missing win. Every completed round is listed in History from the game menu. Unfinished rounds don’t show there until they’re completed.
- Turn off FeatureSpins if your balance drops fast. BonusHunt and Rainbow FeatureSpins stay active until you press Disable, and each spin costs 3x or 50x your bet while they’re on.
A crowbar, a rainbow and a lot of patience
Le Bandit has a lot going on under its cartoon surface. The Golden Squares turn ordinary wins into potential coin hauls, the three bonuses step up neatly, and the max win is in reach in every mode. However, the version we played pays 94.23%, the base game wins are small, and the FeatureSpins options will keep charging you until you switch them off.
Our final grade: 92/100.
