When a spin lands at least 8 matching symbols for a payout, the matching grid positions explode. The explosions cause the symbols above to tumble down the reel, filling the empty reel positions (where the matching symbols exploded). The new symbols entering the grid can create new matches, for subsequent tumbles and further matches. This continues until no new matches are made. The spin pays out the total collected during all of the tumbles.

Sweet Rush Bonanza, in following Sugar Rush’s lead, takes things one step further, though. When symbols explode to leave open a reel position, they also leave a multiplier in the space. If new matches are made with the symbol in that reel position, then the multiplier is applied to the win. Moreover, every time a multiplier is used, it doubles for the following tumble.

The tumble mechanism has always been one of our favourites, and including the multipliers in the way Sweet Rush Bonanza does only multiplies our enjoyment.

Scatter symbol

Sweet Rush Bonanza, as we alluded to above, has a scatter symbol. The symbol is the now iconic lollipop with a pink and red swirl from the Sweet Bonanza series. When 4 or more appear anywhere on the board, the scatter symbol not only pays out (0.1x with 4, 0.25x with 5, and 5x with 6 or more matches), but it also activates the free spins round.

Free spins round

When Sweet Rush Bonanza’s free spins round is activated, players are given 10 free spins. A big difference to the gameplay during the free spins round is that the multipliers that arrive during tumbles remain throughout the entire free spins round. This allows players to build up the multipliers to huge amounts (up to 128x!) and collect more across the board.
