The Canadian Gaming Summit is about to kick off in Toronto, bringing back the discussion around player safety. Delegates will discover the latest safeguarding practices and ethical marketing strategies, which promote growth without ever compromising player safety and well-being.
The Player Protection Symposium will take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Tuesday 18th June, the opening day of the Canadian Gaming Summit. This high-level gathering is dedicated to building a strong ecosystem to prevent harm in the sports betting and iGaming industries across Canada. Delegates will dive deep into crucial player protection issues, including topics like effective strategies for marketing responsible gambling initiatives and methods to safeguard high-stakes players.
The Symposium will open with the ‘Safeguarding the Stakes: Strategies for Player Protection at the VIP/High Roller Level’ panel, addressing the critical need to protect high-stakes players. The panel will feature speakers Martin Lycka (SVP Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gaming, Entain), Bill Pascrell III (Partner, PPAG), Adi Markus (Director of Customer Success, Optimove), and moderator Jay Robinson (Principal, JR Consulting). Part of the panel will also examine the latest player monitoring technologies and establish a framework to elevate the standards for VIP player care.
Following that will be the second panel, ‘Ethical Engagement: Harmonizing Branding and Responsible Gaming Efforts.’ This will take a close look at the relationship between branding and responsible gaming, as it plays an important role in shaping the image of operators: it needs to ensure that players can trust the brand. The panel will shed light on the best practices to portray an authentic representation of an operator’s customer care. Featuring on the panel are industry experts Sarah Brennan (Sr Director Compliance, BetMGM), Aaron GlynWilliams (Director Social Responsibility, OLG), Riona Mohan (Director of Marketing, Betty), Jacob Hargaden-Llewellin (Country Manager Canada, LeoVegas) and moderator Ilkim Hincer (Partner, Fogler).
After the break, there will be a panel on ‘Navigating Responsible Marketing: Ensuring Compliance and Promoting Safe Gambling Practices.’ The panel will look to discuss key questions such as how the industry can promote its products without attracting scrutiny, and what are the best practices for online casinos and affiliates to guarantee their marketing campaigns are ethical. For players who may be considered more vulnerable or are recovering from gambling issues, protecting and respecting their well-being is a central point of this conversation.
The last two panels of the day are no less important. ‘Designing Player Protection through customer insights and collaboration’ will explore the work carried out by Ontario Lottery and Gaming with responsible gambling stakeholders, EPIC Global Solutions and the Responsible Gaming Council. And finally, closing the day will be the panel ‘Unified visions, diverse paths: Responsible gaming initiatives across Canadian provinces’, to discuss flexible solutions, exchange provincial insights, and will see delegates actively participate in enhancing gaming safety.
